Everything to know about Tours in New York

There are several ways to tour the Statue of Liberty, including:

  • The pedestal tour: This tour allows visitors to go inside the pedestal of the statue and includes access to the museum located inside. The pedestal tour does not include access to the statue’s crown, but visitors can see the statue up close and take in views of the surrounding harbor.
  • The crown tour: This tour includes access to the pedestal as well as the statue’s crown, which offers views of New York City and the surrounding harbor. The crown tour is more strenuous as it involves climbing up a narrow, winding staircase to the top of the pedestal and then up another staircase to the crown.
  • The grounds tour: This tour includes access to the grounds of Liberty Island, but does not include access to the pedestal or crown. Visitors can take in views of the statue from the base and explore the island’s grounds.

All tours of the Statue of Liberty include a ferry ride from Manhattan to Liberty Island. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the National Park Service website or in person at the ferry terminal. It is highly recommended to purchase tickets in advance, as tours often sell out, particularly during peak tourist season.
